Scientific and Research Work
Scientific and pedagogical staff of the department actively combines teaching work with scientific activity, which contributes of improving the level of effectiveness of the educational process, improving the students training taking into account the current state and tendencies of development of information and telecommunication technologies, introduction of advanced forms of educational and methodological support for training of specialists, improvement of the methodology of teaching professional and selective disciplines.
Scientific topics are constantly recorded at the Department of Information Systems and Calculating Methods. Thus, the department has been working on the implementation of two research works on the following topics since January 2018:
- Software modification of artificial intelligence methods for the analysis of graphic information on on-line anti-plagiarism (state registration number 0118U003103).
- Establishment and implementation of an automated system for managing the learning process in the electronic educational space (state registration number 0118U003104).
These scientific directions determine the orientation of scientific research of the teaching staff of the department, as well as graduate students.
Along with the teaching load, the lecturers of the departments work on scientific works. Each year, they publish the results of their research in specialized journals, appear at scientific conferences and seminars.
The scientific and creative potential of the teachers of the department is taken into account as much as possible in the implementation of the educational process and scientific works, the development of special courses, the guidance of practice.
The teachers of the department take part in conferences held on the basis of the university, the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine and leading universities of Ukraine, Belarus, Hungary, Poland. Annually, the University organises international and national scientific and practical conferences on informatisaton and computer technologies, in particular, "Information technology: problems of science, practice, education", seminars on informatics for teachers and more.
One of the priorities of the Department of Information Systems and Calculating Methods is the involvement of students in research work. The main forms of such work are scientific research in the course and diploma (qualification) works, student scientific conferences and competitions.
Teachers are guided by the following principles when engaging students in research: science, individualisation, communication with the process of market transformations, orientation to current and perspective areas in the field of information systems, accordance with state requirements and educational standards.
Conducting fundamental, exploratory and applied research expands students' scientific outlook, activates their educational and cognitive activity. Students become more familiar with literary sources and expanding their knowledge by doing scientific work.
An important step in the process of scientific work is consultations with scientific leaders, in which students are better guided in the areas of scientific and technological progress in the field of informatisation and deepening their knowledge of the problems that are under study. Such consultations cause greater interest in disciplines related to scientific research, which in turn encourages students to take a more serious attitude to learning and understanding the need to acquire basic knowledge.
Student that are participating in conferences and competitions are encouraged to improve their intellectual level, improve their professional skills and creative work, promote the development and realization of students' abilities and their thinking and ability to analyse. Communication between students during the Olympiads and conferences cause students to share their thoughts, practical experience and research, encourage discussion of the problems of implementation and use of the latest information technologies in the Ukrainian economy. International and all-Ukrainian conferences and Olympiads expand the connection between higher education institutions of Ukraine in the field of student research.
