The specialists of the department use innovative methods of teaching law disciplines related to the introduction of interactive learning technologies, which consist in the presence of lectures in electronic format, in the use of test tasks of different levels of complexity, computer modelling of different legal situations, students of business games for better mastering of passed material; the use of distance learning for students, the use of a module-rating system of study of disciplines, which provides a combination of teaching and independent work of students.

Scientific and pedagogical staff of the department carry out their activity in such directions of work of the university as educational-methodical, scientific and organisational-educational.

In the field of scientific research, the department successfully cooperates with many institutes of National Academy of Science of Ukraine, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, National Academy of Internal Affairs, National University of Ostroh Academy and other leading educational institutions.

An important area of scientific activity is the establishment of international relations and fruitful cooperation in this field. Close contacts are established with the scientific centres of Poland, Hungary, Belarus, Georgia.

Today, the Department of State Theory, History and Law and Philosophy is one of the most powerful in terms of staff and scientific potential at the Academician Stepan Demianchuk International University of Economics and Humanities.
