Academician Stepan Demianchuk International University of Economics and Humanities held solemn events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the founder and first rector of the institution, Professor Stepan Yakymovych Demianchuk.
The commemorative meeting and remembrance event, “The Centennial Anniversary of Professor Stepan Demianchuk: His Path, Science, and Legacy,” brought together the university administration, academic and teaching staff, students, and distinguished guests to honor the life of this outstanding scholar.
The program began with a spiritual tribute - a prayer service in the university chapel of St. Stephen, where those present prayed for the bright and eternal memory of the institution's founder.
An important event of the day was the official unveiling of a bust of Professor Stepan Demianchuk. The new memorial was installed in the lobby of the first floor of the university's first building as a symbol of deep respect for his scientific and pedagogical contribution. The commemoration was emphasized by the words of our university's rector, Professor Vitalii Demianchuk, who, with great gratitude on this significant day, recalled the founder of IUEH and highlighted his enormous contribution to the prosperity and development of the institution of higher education.
The series of events concluded with a meeting and reminiscences in the university's youth space. Guests watched a film about Stepan Demianchuk’s professional life as recounted by his contemporaries, colleagues, and close friends. The academician's like-minded colleagues and followers shared stories about his professional activities and personal qualities, which laid the foundation for the success of IUEH.
IUEH President Professor Anatolii Demianchuk noted that Stepan Demianchuk not only had followers in science, but also influenced the worldview of everyone who had the honor of personally knowing such an outstanding personality. He noted that the memory of him lives on in generations thanks to his decency, honesty, perseverance, and work ethic.
A significant event took place at the university - the opening of the Peace Center. The event was held as part of the celebrations marking the anniversary of the birth of the university's founder, who pioneered peace education
The newly created Peace Center aims to develop a culture of peace, promote dialogue and mutual understanding, and implement educational and scientific initiatives aimed at establishing peaceful values in society. The opening of the Center was an important step in preserving and continuing the ideas of the university's founder and developing humanistic education.
The legacy of Stepan Yakymovych Demianchuk continues to be a guide for the university, and his contribution to the development of higher education in Ukraine is an invaluable treasure for future generations of scientists.
