The Rector of the Academician Stepan Demianchuk International University of Economics and Humanities, Professor Vitalii Demianchuk, was awarded the academic title of Honorary Doctorate of Bath Spa University (Great Britain). The award ceremony took place on February 3, 2026, in Bath during the winter graduation ceremony.
The prestigious title was awarded by Bath Spa University for Professor Vitaliii Demianchuk's outstanding scientific achievements, academic leadership, and personal contribution to the development of international partnerships between Ukrainian and British higher education institutions. During the ceremony, Professor Vitalii Demianchuk emphasized in his speech the symbolic significance of this award for the entire Ukrainian academic community:
«It is a great honor for me to be here with you today in Bath, at the university that is a center of culture, science, and development, and to receive an Honorary Doctorate. I deeply appreciate this high award and recognition from Bath Spa University. I accept it on behalf of our university community, Ukrainian scientists, teachers, and students who, despite the dark times for Ukraine, continue to serve science, teach, and learn. Working with such people is a privilege for which I am grateful».
David Newman, University Secretary of Bath Spa University and Chief of Staff, emphasized in his speech:
«The Honorary Doctorate is in recognition of Professor Demianchuk’s scholarly achievements, his academic leadership especially during a very difficult period in Ukraine’s history and for his commitment to partnership and collaboration with Bath Spa University».
The role of Vitalii Demianchuk in the strategic development of IUEH was highlighted separately. Ian Gadd, Head of Development of European Projects at Bath Spa University noted that under his leadership, the university is confidently establishing itself as an innovative educational and scientific center open to international cooperation:
“Under professor Demianchuk’s leadership, IUEH has proven itself to be a pioneering private university, actively embracing European pedagogical and scholarly standards in order to ensure innovative teaching and research. He successfully steered IUEH through the Covid pandemic and have provided staunch leadership since the full scale invasion of Ukraine by Russia in February 20222.”
The awarding of the title of Honorary Doctorate was not only a recognition of the personal achievements of the rector of IUEH, but also a significant international gesture of support for Ukrainian higher education, confirming the stability of Ukraine's academic institutions and their active integration into the European educational and scientific space.
