On 13 November, Birkbeck, University of London @birkbeckuol hosted the Twinning Conference 2025, which brought together universities, government representatives and international organisations to celebrate and reflect on three years of successful cooperation between British and Ukrainian higher education institutions.
The conference showcased striking examples of how the Twinning initiative continues to strengthen academic cooperation, research partnerships and mutual support across borders.
The event was attended by Ian Gadd, Head for Development of European Project, who presented the results of the cooperation between Bath Spa University and Academician Setapan Demianchuk International University of Economics and Humanities.
Key outcomes of the conference:
• Success stories of partnerships between Ukrainian and British universities within the framework of ‘The Twinning Effect’ sessions.
• Discussions on global cooperation, sustainability and new opportunities in higher education.
• Launch of new projects, including the Excellence Network Project and Seed Fund, aimed at strengthening cooperation and developing research potential.
