On May 2, the Polish-Ukrainian Adaptation Centre of IUEH hosted the opening of the second stage of the International RITA Programme within the framework of the project ‘UKRAINSKIE CENTRUM TERAPII ZAJECIOVEJ POPRZEZ SPORT OSOB NIEPELNOSPRAWNYCH VO 2. 0‘ (’Ukrainian Centre for Adaptive Sports and Occupational Therapy for Persons with Disabilities"), co-funded by the Polish-American Foundation “Wolnosci” under the programme “RITA - Przemiany w regionie”, implemented by the “Educatja dla demokracji” Foundation. The main partner in the implementation of the project is AZS WSG from Bydgoszcz (Poland).

Specialised classes for people with disabilities were held at the Polish-Ukrainian Adaptation Centre, which became an important step in creating a sustainable physical and social rehabilitation programme. The event was marked by the active participation of instructors and student volunteers from the Faculty of Health, Physical Education and Sports, who helped to organise and conduct the training.

The main feature of these classes was the use of adaptive sports games, such as Cornhole, Boccia, Culbutto, Giaccolo, Elastic and Paca-Laca. These games not only promote the development of fine motor skills and postural control, but also improve communication skills, promote socialisation and engage participants in an active lifestyle.
On-site registration of all those wishing to participate in regular classes that will be held at the centre was also organised. In addition, the organisers have already received applications to hold outreach classes with internally displaced people and people with disabilities.

Parents of the disabled people who took part in the event expressed special gratitude. They stressed the importance of such initiatives for maintaining the health and emotional well-being of their children and expressed hope that such classes would continue in the future.
The Adaptation Centre remains open to everyone who wants to change, develop and actively participate in the community.
